Stephen Keshi is set to take charge of Nigeria again - less than a fortnight after being sacked.
The 52-year-old was fired on October 16 and replaced by former coach Shaibu Amodu on an interim basis.
However, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) media officer Toyin Ibitoye announced on Thursday that Keshi had accepted an invitation to take his old job back as part of reconciliatory moves ordered by president Goodluck Jonathan.
Consequently, Keshi is now set to take charge of next month's Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Congo and South Africa - even though the NFF has yet to release any official statement on the issue.
Nigiera had struggled to win just one in four qualifying matches and fans had begun to call for Keshi's dismissal.
The Super Eagles have four points from their first four games in Group A and currently lie third, behind South Africa (eight points) and Congo (seven points), but ahead of Sudan (three points).
