Asante Kotoko’s newy contracted coach, David Duncan, has challenged those alleging that he once made disparaging remarks about the club to prove it or forever hold their peace.
He said it was not true that he was an anti-Kotoko, or had a penchant for attacking the club verbally, saying that if those allegations were proven, he would humbly apologise.
“It is not my nature to insult people. I am a born-again Christian and I don’t think I will deliberately defame or damage anybody or group of people,” he told a lively Kotoko gathering to officially introduce him as the helmsman of the club for the next two years.
Rather, he said, his pre-match and touchline antics were all part of the “mind game” which would form part of the tools he would deploy to achieve the needed results for Kotoko.
The former Hearts of Oak coach has been tasked by the Samuel Opoku Nti-led management to lift the club from the current 14th position to win the First Capital Plus Premier League, as well as qualify the club into the group stage of the ongoing CAF Champions League.
In agreeing with the target of management, Coach Duncan said to turn the fortunes of the club around required total support of the Kotoko faithful whom he described as “key part of the jigsaw puzzle to deliver the results”.
Coach Duncan takes over from Mas-Ud Dramani who led Kotoko to back-to-back league titles but fell out with the club’s management after a poor start to the season. He parted ways with the club after receiving more than GH¢54,000 as severance package.
