Hearts, Medeama for President’s Cup: TP Mazembe, Enugu Rangers also on board

The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) has given the annual President’s Cup match an international flavour with the introduction of DR Congo champions, TP Mazembe, and Enugu Rangers of Nigeria in this year’s event.

This year’s novelty tournament will see TP Mazembe and Enugu Rangers squaring off with Ghana’s Accra Hearts of Oak and Medeama Sporting clubs in a special four-club fiesta in honour of the President of the Republic.

Hearts and Medeama emerged tops from the GHALCA-organised fans text messaging poll to determine the two most-wanted Ghanaian clubs to participate in this year’s event.

The four participating clubs in the 2013 edition of the President’s Cup were unveiled at last Tuesday’s media launch at the La-Palm Beach Hotel.

The tournament kick-starts at the Sekondi Stadium at Essipon on Friday, June 28, with a clash between Medeama and Enugu Rangers, followed by an anticipated thriller involving Hearts of Oak and

TP Mazembe at the Accra Stadium.

The winners of the two semi-final matches will clash in the grand finale at the Accra Stadium on Monday, July 1, while the losers engage in the third place match which will precede the final.

President John Dramani Mahama, is expected to grace the occasion by presenting the trophy to the champions.

The two foreign clubs are expected to arrive in the country by June 26.
