Essien still in great shape - Agyamang Badu

Ghana and Udinese midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, says Michael Essien’s is still a top quality player who means a lot to the Black Stars.

Badu told Allsport.com.gh that the AC Milan midfielder will make an impact at the world cup in Brazil.

“Mike is an abundance of talent and working alongside him is a great honour. He’s a leader on the field of play and a mentor to all of us. Looking at his current form there is no doubt we have an asset in this great Black Stars team who will surely make an impact at the world cup” he said.

Badu and Essien clashed in the Seria A last weekend in a match Udinese won 1-0. Fellow Black Stars team-mate, Muntari, was also in action in that match.

Badu who has been in fine form for Udinese this season also congratulated Juventus midfielder, Kwadwo Asamoah, who scored the winning goal for his side in a 1-0 win over Florentina during the weekend.

“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Kwadwo for his wonderful goal yesterday. It’s great to see him in fine form and I wish him the best as we prepare for the world cup,” he said.

Essien, Badu and Muntari are likely to make Ghana coach Kwasi Appiah's 23-man squad for the World Cup.
