The Black Starlets’ qualification bonuses are still in arrears, a month after qualifying for the Africa U-17 Championship.
It is unclear when the bonus will be settled but unfazed head coach of the team, Paa Kwesi Fabin, is optimistic that his boys would be adequately settled before they travel for the Under-17 Africa Youth Championship slated for Niger.
He told the Daily Graphic that he was in the dark as to why payment had delayed but believed the budget had to go through various processes before it was finally approved.
He said unlike the Black Stars who were paid by their sponsors, GNPC, the Starlets were paid by the state and as such would take a little time.
Despite the delay, Coach Fabin said they were determined to make a huge impact at the Africa Youth Championship.
The Starlets coach also confirmed that he had turned down an appointment to be part of the Bechem United management team because his role as a national team coach could not permit him to take up that job.
He explained that he was approached by Bechem United but his current duty as the Starlets coach put him in a tight position that he could not accept an extra role with the Bechem-based club.
