Abukari Gariba's funeral will be on Sunday in Kumasi

The final funeral rites (Adoa) of former Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Black Stars legend, Abukari Gariba, will be held opposite the Assemblies of God Church at Akwatia Line in Kumasi at 10 am on Sunday January 31, 2021.

The deceased, who was part of the team which won the African Club Championship for Kotoko and Ghana for the first time in 1971, died last Saturday, January 23, after a short illness.

He was buried the following day at the Tafo cemetery in line with Muslim tradition.

Describing the deceased as a devout Muslim, a gentleman and a kind-hearted person during an interview with the Daily Graphic, the Founder and Bankroller of Kumasi-based King Faisal Football Club, Alhaji Karim Gruzah, said Abukari was considered as a family member by his family because he resided with them in Kumasi when he relocated from Tamale to play for Kotoko.

“We have known each other for a long time and in spite of his fame in football, he never took his religion for granted,” he said.
