Suleiman Tetteh, Samuel Takyi mourn Black Bombers teammate
The Captain of the Black Bombers team, Suleiman Tetteh, has described the demise of John Commey as a blow to the amateur boxing family and the sport as a whole.
Tetteh, who leads the national amateur boxing team, said he was yet to come to terms with Commey’s death, and that the nation had lost a boxing gem.

Commey, an amateur boxing prospect, was reported to have died following a short illness. His sudden demise shook the entire boxing fraternity.
However, in an interview with the Graphic Sports, Tetteh described the late Commey as a world champion who couldn’t live to realise his dreams.
“I haven’t been able to sleep well since hearing of his demise. He was a very talented fighter with a lot of great years ahead of him.
“I saw him as a future world champion who couldn’t live to see that dream. It is a big blow to the amateur boxing fraternity and the sport as a whole,” Tetteh said.
Meanwhile, in a separate interview, Black Bombers teammate, Samuel Takyi, said the late Commey had everything boxing in him and would be be missed by everyone in the sport.
Takyi, who together with Tetteh, are Ghana’s qualified boxing athletes for next year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo, noted that his departed colleague was a skillful fighter who had brighter years ahead of him.
“It is sad how Commey died,” Takyi told the Graphic Sports. “He was a very good boxer who had so many years ahead of him.
“He is going to be missed by everyone in the sport for not living to achieve his dreams,” he added.
