International referee Roger Barnor says boxers will benefit from his presence in GBA executive
Experienced boxing referee, Roger Barnor, is ready to help Ghanaian fighters gain recognition by the sanctioning bodies when voted as the next second vice-president of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA).
Barnor believes his familiarity with the various bodies such as the World Boxing Council (WBC), International Boxing Federation (IBF), World Boxing Association (WBA) and the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) will enable him to get fighters on the ratings.

The chairman of the Boxing Referees Association of Ghana is ready to contest the upcoming GBA elective congress, which is slated for July 22 at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.
Confirming his decision to contest the vice-presidential position of the GBA, Barnor told the Graphic Sports that he would offer his expertise to the various referees in the country by organising training sessions when given the nod by delegates.
“Our fighters are not getting the needed recognition by the main sanctioning bodies and it is something I am really interested in,” Barnor said. “Due to my relationship with the sanctioning bodies, whom I officiate for, I am ready to lobby for our boxers to get the chance to be recognised.
“It is something I am very much interested in and I am ready to bring that on board. I also think I need to organise frequent training workshops for our referees to equip them in officiating when given the nod,” Barnor added.

When asked what his chances were, Barnor explained that he stood tall considering his vast knowledge of the sport and expect the delegates to offer him their support.
He called on all stakeholders to ensure that the right individuals were given the chance to lead the association for the next four years to bring sanity and attractiveness to boxing in Ghana.
“I am not looking at candidates going to contest me because I believe I stand tall among them, considering my vast knowledge of the sport.
“What is left now is for the delegates to offer me their support by voting for me and other equally competent people to help bring sanity to the sport.”
