Nigerian world title hopeful to adopt Accra base
Landmark Promotions are considering relocating Nigerian boxer, Isaac Ekpo, permanently to Ghana after his world title fight with Robert Stieglitz next month.
Ekpo will be challenging Stieglitz for the German’s World Boxing Organisation (WBO) super-middleweight title at the Messe Halle in Leipzig, Germany, on October 19.
Anthony Kermah, Chief Executive of Landmark Promotions, managers of the African pride, said the boxer may soon relocate permanently to Accra to campaign in the Ghanaian capital.
“We are brothers in the sub-region, so it should not be difficult for a Nigerian to adopt Ghana as his home,” he said.
Ekpo, rated number seven by the WBO, is the current WBO Africa super-middleweight champion, a feat he achieved in Accra.
He holds a 22-1 fight record, with 16 knockout victories, but his opponent is a vastly experienced boxer with a 45-3 record.
