The world cannot wait to see the two brawl

Mayweather v Pacquiao: priced above the world!

It may not be just the biggest fight of the decade, but it looks like the Floyd ‘Money Man’ Mayweather Jnr and Manny Pacquiao’s May 2 clash at the MGM Grand Gardens Arena in Las Vegas will not be cheap for the ordinary boxing fan.

From the purses for the boxers involved to the expenses to be incurred by the organisers through even the fines for breaching the rules, it is one expensive fight.!

ESPN is estimating that the fight will make approximately $400 million and the tickets to watch the fight have been priced between $1,500 to $7,500. Aside from that, the boxers will each pay $5million, if they fail their agreed drug test.

After almost five years of waiting and disagreement, the two iconic boxers have agreed to a deal that will earn the American Mayweather $120million while Pacquiao will return home to the Philippines with $80million.

Most of the revenue is expected to come from the Pay Per View (PPV) proceeds, as everyone, irrespective of where they find themselves, will be interested to be part of this historic fight.  Mayweather and Pacquiao are the two biggest PPV stars of their generation and will have a record viewership following their exploits on May 2.

Earnings

It is also understandable why Mayweather is likely to earn more, as his deal with Showtime and the fact that he remains unbeatable at the moment puts him in a position where he calls the shots.

The fight will mark the fifth bout in the blockbuster six-fight contract Mayweather signed with Showtime in February 2013 and which has seen the ‘Money Man’s wealthy empire building up higher than he could have imagined.

Betting

With the bout set for the ‘betting city’, Las Vegas, the betting business is also booming.

Curtis Jackson also known as 50 Cent, says he will bet $1.6 million on his friend, Mayweather to win.

He told a radio station in the United States “Champ is going to do it. He's going to smoke him,” Jackson told radio station Power 105.1. “It's going to look like he pumped up for no reason.”

Asked if he would back up his confidence with a bet, Jackson replied, “Probably like 1.6 (million). I've been thinking this out. "I'm going to make a real bet. He's focused right now.”

In Ghana, betting companies are also expected to make a fortune as they will cash-in on the heavy hype.

Expenses

Expenses is also running high for the boxers as they both seek to have the best of preparations for their great day.

Not surprising, Pacquiao has been quiet on his spending, focusing on his training, but typically, Mayweather is flaunting his wealth, giving as much details as he can on what is going into his preparations.

Last week, it was reported that Money Man was paying a chef, Quiana Jeffries, nicknamed Chef Q, who has been hired as a personal chef  $4,000 a day for his daily four meals just to stay in shape for the fight.
