Chiringa wins Military Boxing contest

The Chiringa Platoon last Friday emerged the Overall Best Platoon at the Cowbell/Ghana Military Academy Inter-Platoon Novices Boxing Competition after seven of their cadets emerged victorious in their bouts.

The event saw male and female cadets of the Short Service Commission/ Special Duty Intake 52 participate in a total of 14 three-round bouts at the Mats Parade Square  at Teshie.

The Chiringa Platoon finished the competition ahead of the Abyssinia Platoon and Burma Platoon; who won only five bouts and two bouts respectively.

Naval Cadet S. Salifu, Officer Cadet Amoah Ebonyi, Officer Cadet O.H. Yeboah, Naval Cadet A. Kuwornu, Officer Cadet Kodua Owusu, Officer Cadet Alhassan Abdul Latif and Flight Cadet Khalifa Banda  were the men who clinched victory for Chiringa.

The winners took home trophies and souvenirs from the event sponsors, Cowbell, while the losers after their fights suffered the humiliation of carrying a log round the ring in front of fellow cadets and senior officers.

Naval Cadet Sessi Odametey was adjudged the Best Female Boxer for her split decision victory over Naval Cadet Odei Kissi, Officer Cadet Agyemang Duah won the Best Male Boxer award for his impressive display against Officer Cadet B. Boateng and Officer Cadet emerged the Gallant Loser  of the competition for her split decision loss to Naval Cadet Odametey.
