Nunu sports festival ends Sat

Unlike the first festival in 2011 which involved only six regions, this time round, 24 schools from the 10 regions will be represented in the two-day games.

The sports festival is expected to exhibit the finest if talents nationwide. All the participating schools emerged champions in their respective regions and are converging at the El-Wak Stadium to determine who lift the ultimate prize - a trophy.

Last year, it was Super Kings School in Accra that won the trophy but had to be urged out by Cambridge JHS at the regional level, while Akossah JHS dismissed second place KNUST JHS to pick the only slot for the Ashanti Region.

Ho Bankoe JHS, Nkotopo JHS and Zogbeli 'B' JHS picked up slots to compete on the ticket of the Volta, Western and Northern regions, while Tendanba JHS and Abligba No.1 JHS pick the only slots for the Upper West and East regions.

Holy Trinity JHS at Obuasi, the Central Parents Pride at Kasoa and the Brekum Senasi JHS at Berekum will also make their presence felt in the competition.

Speaking on the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Djan Wilteh and Associate, Mr Emmanuel Olabode Williams, organisers of the festival said the two-day event would be followed an award ceremony on February 24 at the Emmanuel Presby Church, Dansoman where deserving players, officials and teams would be honoured.

He was grateful to headline sponsor, PZ Cussons, producers of Nunu Milk and supporting companies including ERKE Sports, NIIT, Hollywood Financial Service and Milko for their support in helping to unearth talents in schoolchildren.
