Security forces have been urged to deal fairly with all Ghanaians when carrying out their duties especially after the Supreme Court judgement on the election petition.

“Don’t let political colouration influence your performance,” the Gomoa East District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Isaac Kingsley Ahunu-Armah, stressed when addressing the annual Akwanbo Festival of the people of Gomoa Fetteh on Sunday.

The DCE appealed to Ghanaians to accept the judgement and abide by it.

He said no one should expect any political party leader, a chief or government official to intervene on his or her behalf if he or she was arrested for disturbing the peace in the country.

Mr Ahunu-Armah said:  “Nobody is above the law so we must all abide by the judgement.”

The DCE expressed happiness that peace had returned to Gomoa Fetteh after 10 years of chieftaincy dispute.

Mr Ahunu-Armah, who is a citizen of the town, said Fetteh had every opportunity to be the fastest growing community in the district but for chieftaincy litigations.

He urged the people to unite to seek the development of the town.

The Queen of Fetteh, Nana Abena Ewusiwah II, appealed to women to advise their children and husbands to refrain from utterances and activities which could disturb the peace after the Supreme Court ruling.

She reminded them that when there was a civil war, children and women suffered most and therefore they must prevent any disturbances in the country.

Nana Ewusiwah said preparations were underway to inaugurate the senior high school built in the town by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, because Fetteh people allowed refugees from Liberia to settle on their lands.

The Chief of Gomoa Fetteh and Twafohen of Gomoa Akyempim, Nana Abor Yamoah II, expressed concern about how people were scrambling for lands in the area without authority.

He warned that no land guards would be accepted on Fetteh lands.

“We are a peace-loving people and would not entertain any land guards who would drag the reputation of the town to the mud.”
