Selassie Ibrahim loses husband

Ghanaian actress and filmmaker Selassie Ibrahim is mourning the death of her husband, former Food and Agriculture Minister Ibrahim Adam.

Ibrahim Adam died at the University of Ghana Medical Centre on August 30, 2026, aged 75.

Three days after his death, on Tuesday, September 1, Selassie Ibrahim took to Instagram to pay tribute to her late husband.

She shared a series of photographs capturing some of their moments together, along with an emotional message.

“Rest well. Our hearts are broken beyond words. Your legacy lives on,” she wrote.

Ibrahim Adam, an animal scientist by profession, held a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Agriculture before venturing into politics and public service.

He served as Agriculture Secretary under former President Jerry John Rawlings before becoming Minister for Food and Agriculture from 1993 to 1996.

He later entered Parliament after winning the Choggu/Tishigu constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He served as Member of Parliament for the constituency from 1997 to 2001 and was part of the Majority in the Second Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

Beyond politics, Ibrahim Adam also served as Board Chairman of the Agricultural Development Bank, where he contributed to the institution's governance.

He and Selassie Ibrahim had two children, a son and a daughter.

Following his death, his remains were transported from Accra to Tamale, where he was buried in accordance with Islamic traditions.
