Member of Parliament for Manhyia North Constituency, Mr Collins Owusu Amankwah

Rally behind NPP - Amankwah

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North, Mr Collins Owusu Amankwah, has urged delegates in the constituency and members of the party in the region to work hard and rally behind the party to secure the 80 per cent of popular votes in the 2016 elections.

He said for the party to achieve that objective, there was the need for all and sundry to put aside petty squabbles and bickering and get actively involved in the campaign  to attain the ultimate.

Mr Amankwah made the appeal at a rally at Krofuom in Kumasi in his first public appearance since the unfortunate incident between him and his regional chairman last month which culminated in the arrest of the chairman.

“The 80 per cent of the popular votes in the region should be our focus and not things that would distract us from that objective.”

He asked the constituents to forget about the unfortunate incident that happened between him and the regional chairman and to concentrate on the bigger picture.

Rally

He said he believed that Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi, might have been misled by some of the lies being peddled about him by some detractors of the party to do what he did.

That notwithstanding, he said the battle ahead was much bigger than their internal bickering and urged the party supporters to focus on the bigger picture and work together to ensure a resounding victory for the party.

Turnout

Mr Amankwah said Krofuom had always had a high voter turnout since the country returned to democracy over two decades ago and that this must be maintained if not increased.

This record, he said, should not be allowed to be broken as a result of apathy on the part of the electorate because of the internal problems for  Ghanaians could not afford to continue to live under the clueless NDC administration again.

Truce

Early this month, party elders in the region brokered a truce between the MP and the regional chairman over the incident.

This was after the MP and his Constituency Secretary, Felix Ibrahim, had written to the court to withdraw the case for an amicable settlement.
