Prez Mahama deserves another term — Akwei Thompson

The President, John Dramani Mahama, deserves another four- year term in office for the massive infrastructure projects his administration has executed within a short period of time, Mr Jerry Akwei Thompson, the Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) for Ga South, has stated.

He explained that the Mahama administration had laid the infrastructure for the country to take off as a middle income country.

As a result, he said  jobs would be generated through increased economic activities brought about by the infrastructure development.

Mr Thompson, who inaugurated a GH¢400,000 six- classroom block for the Bortianor Christ Fellowship Academy at Bortianor, urged parents to take advantage of access to quality education to educate their children.

Quality education

He, therfore, urged parent to send their children to school to reciprocate the good gesture of  the government which is making quality education accessible to all irrespective of their social and economic background.

He said material acquisitions such as buying of expensive wedding and funeral cloth at the expense of their children’s education retarded the development of their children who could end up as social misfits.

Mr Thompson said when parents take advantage of the educational infrastructure to educate their children, their children stand a chance of becoming responsible citizens.

The MCE said education had the power to enable children to fulfil the vision of their parents who could not achieve their own vision.

Vision & Leadership

He commended the Member of Parliament for the Bortianor/Ngleshie /Amanfro Constituency for his vision to spearhead the construction of the permanent structure for the Christ Fellowship school when the temporary structure that housed the school was reclaimed by the owners.

He said  the commitment of the MP, Mr Bright  E.K  Demordzi, by writing to the GETFund to support the school  with a permanent structure culminated in the construction of the six-classroom block.

Mr Thompson said the schoolchildren whose schooling was endangered were presently furthering their education as a result of the commitment of the MP and the traditional authorities.

No fault of theirs

Mr Demordzi, who traced the history of the school, said when he became MP, the first challenge he had was to find a place for the 114 schoolchildren whose  education had come to a halt.

The MP paid tribute to the chief of Bortianor who, he said, readily provided  a land for the construction of the school.

He said the Ga South Municipality also assisted with the provision of artisans and engineers who worked on the project since 2014  to ensure it was completed on  schedule.

Facilities

He said apart from the six classroom block, the school had ancillary facilities such as the headmasters office, staff common room and an office for the supervisor of the Ghana Education Service.

Mr Mawuli Amehane-Addo, Headmaster of Christ Fellowship Academy M/A Junior High School, said enrolment had shot up from 144 students to 180 students.
