President Mahama arrives in London

President John MahamaPresident John Mahama has arrived in London, ahead of his meeting with British Prime Minister David Cameron on Friday and participation in the G8 Summit on Saturday.
The visit to No. 10 Downing Street and the meeting with President Mahama, according to the Prime Minister, is an opportunity for Britain to showcase to the world, Ghana as a beacon of democracy in Africa and one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

President Mahama will be joining other G8 leaders and four African leaders at Saturday's G8 session on Tax, Trade & Transparency. For the United Kingdom, the invitation to Mr. Mahama is because his "personal commitment and leadership will help encourage other countries to appreciate why this agenda is so critical for current and future generations."

The president will be granting audience to the Secretary General of the Commonwealth Secretariat, the All Africa Parliamentary Group from the British House of Commons, the African Diplomatic Corps in the UK and meet with the Ghanaian community in the UK.

He will also attend the Trooping the Colour event to mark the official birthday of Queen Elizabeth II, and a Prime Minister's lunch for heads of state attending the G8 summit.

On Friday evening, he will deliver a lecture on "Ghana's Democratic Gains, Economic Change and Regional Influence" at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, otherwise known as Chatham House.
