NPP Binduri constituency and School Feeding caterers dismiss social media reports of extortion of money for party campaign

The Communications Bureau of the Binduri Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Binduri School Feeding Caterers Association have dismissed social media reports accusing the NPP parliamentary candidate for the area, Mr Abanga Abdulai and the Binduri District Chief Executive, Mr Ayinga Yakubu Abagre of “extorting monies from caterers for the purpose of financing the party's campaign in the Constituency”.

A statement signed by the Binduri NPP Constituency Communications Director, Mr Paul Aganda on June 8, this year, observed that “our attention has been drawn to a juvenile piece purportedly written by one Ndezure Samuel; the concocted and fabricated social media reportage makes laughable allegations about extorting monies from caterers for the purpose of financing the campaign of the party in the Constituency”.

The statement alleged that “this mediocre piece has been commissioned ostensibly to attempt to revive the sinking image, and dwindling fortunes of the sitting NDC member of Parliament”.

It further noted that “It is not unnatural that the sitting MP and his hirelings are bent on tarnishing the image of two fine gentlemen who have given their all in the service to the District and Constituency and are even determined to do more to improve on the fortunes of the people”.

The statement stressed that “no amount of lies and fabrication will detract the DCE and our candidate from pursuing social justice and development for our people”.

Furthermore, “it is going to be a tough call to destroy the image of honest leaders whose efforts are at the forefront of tackling the most crucial and basic development needs of the people of Binduri; Like it is said elsewhere the dog barks and the caravan moves on.”

The statement reminded the writer and the NDC in the constituency that “Hon. Abanga is not only a seasoned politician but a distinguished business man and Chartered Accountant with considerable national and international exposure who also once served as the Municipal Chief Executive of Bawku”.

Mr Abanga was able to finance the 2016 election campaign when there was no caterer to support him. “Constituents will recall how he mobilised resources and donated massively to the people in the wake of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic; that is leadership even before he is entrusted with the mandate of the people,” the statement further explained.

According to the statement, the NPP Parliamentary candidate “is well connected to mobilise resources to successfully prosecute an election campaign; our candidate has demonstrated through deeds and words that he is ethical and will not place private greed ahead of the overall welfare of his people”.

It stated that the rank and file of the NPP is keen to contribute to support the efforts of the Binduri parliamentary aspirant to finance our 2020 campaign and “If the NDC is confused about this, we will be unwilling to be part of their frustrations”.

“We can understand the anxiety but it is curious that rather than undertake an internal examination to salvage whatever is left of their candidate’s image, so much attention is directed at circulating lies and poorly thought through propaganda fruitlessly targeted at the impeccable candidate of the NPP," the statement pointed out.

It therefore urged “the good people of Binduri to vote massively for Hon. Abdulai Abanga and His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to continue to deliver prosperity to them".

The statement assured the Binduri constituency that the government was working hard to improve on their socio-economic wellbeing with the provision of a number of development projects. They include drilling of boreholes throughout the district, building of market stores in Binduri Central, Atuba and Bazua Markets, construction of CHPS compounds throughout the District, construction of classroom blocks throughout the District, reshaping of roads and creating more jobs for the youth.
