New Juaben South MP supports school with computers

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for New Juaben South in the Eastern Region, Mr Michael Okyere Kofi Baafi, has provided the Densuano Municipal Assembly Basic School with 15 new computers and accessories.

Three of the computers are to be used by the management of the school, while the remaining 12 will be used by the students.

The computers, which were presented in partnership with Barry Callebaut Ghana, will enable the schoolchildren to have practical training in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) after many years of deprivation.

Presentation

Presenting the computers to the school at Densuano, Mr Baafi, who is also the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, said it was important for schoolchildren to learn how to operate computers since the country had already migrated to a digital and technology-oriented state.

He requested a report on the state of the computers at the end of every academic term from the school to ascertain how the computers were being utilised.

He urged the school authorities and the children to put the computers to good use and also ensure their regular maintenance.

Mr Baafi advised the teachers not to prevent the schoolchildren from using the computers, since they were purposely provided for them to learn ICT.

Appreciation

The Headmistress of the school, Mrs Gifty Adams, who received the new computers, commended the MP and Barry Callebaut for their support to the school.

She promised to ensure that the computers were properly taken care of and urged the schoolchildren to take advantage of the computers to study ICT.
