NDC group calls for action against social media activist

A National Democratic Congress (NDC) affiliated group, ‘Action Movement’ has called on the national security apparatus to take steps to address the verbal attacks on prominent persons by one Kelvin Ekow Taylor through the social media.

The group said while not being against Mr Taylor’s purported fight against institutional corruption in the country, the use of insulting language on persons held in high esteem in the country amounted to denigration.

The spokesperson for the group, Mr Ekow Edwards, who addressed a press conference in Accra said, “fighting corruption in this country does not mean insulting our elders and inciting the public against the President, former Presidents, traditional rulers, the clergy and ministers of state.”

Proper way

The proper way to fight corruption in Ghana, the group said, was not through a deliberate defamation of people’s character.

Unfortunately, the group said, Mr Taylor had chosen an unknown and undisclosed location from where he was inciting Ghanaians against the leadership of the country.

The Action Movement was of the view that the actions of Mr Taylor had no political colouration but rather indicted the integrity of corporate Ghana.

In view of that, it has called for a determinate action from the government to halt the disaffection being caused to the country by the pronouncements of Mr Taylor.
