The ruling National Democratic Congress ( NDC) has fixed October 24-26 for its national delegates congress.
The congress, the venue of which was not immediately disclosed, would mark a major step in the party's quest to retain power come the 2016 parliamentary and presidential elections.
Speaking at a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party in Accra yThursday, the General Secretary, Mr Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah, said however that before the national congress was organised, the party would have completed at least two-thirds of its constituency and regional conferences.
Currently, he said, branch elections were almost complete.
He stated that July 19 had been fixed as the deadline for the completion of the branch elections.
The party, he said, also had up to August 31 to complete constituency elections, and October 5 to finish regional conferences.
In attendance was the President, Mr John Dramani Mahama.
