I wanted to capture the moment - Otiko reacts to "selfie-moment" during Akufo-Addo's UN General Assembly address
The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisa Djaba says persons who trolled her for taking a selfie during President Akufo-Addo’s maiden address at the United Nations General Assembly were jealous of her "proud moment".

Madam Djaba and the Deputy Chief of Staff Abu Jinapor who were members of the Ghana delegation at the UN General Assembly were trolled on social media for posing for a selfie last September while Akufo-Addo delivered his address in New York City.
However, Madam Djaba insists that all the critics and trolls were jealous that she was present to witness Akufo-Addo tell the world about a new and prosperous Africa.
She says her decision to pose for a selfie at such a historic moment was not a first as members of Ghana's Parliament did same when Obama addressed them in 2009.
"I did", Otiko confirmed when quizzed by Joy News as to whether she indeed took a selfie during Akufo-Addo's speech. She added, "No, I wanted to capture the moment. shw3 (sic). People saw me and I wanted to capture the moment.
"I wanted to tell the world that our President was making a fantastic speech and so remember when Obama came to Parliament a lot of... Everybody was taking pictures to capture the moment... to show...
"That Nana Akufo-Addo was telling world leaders that there is a new Africa, moving us out of poverty, moving us out of aid."
According to her, it was an appropriate moment for herself and the Deputy Chief of Staff to pose for a picture while the President spoke.
