Mr Asiedu Nketiah was speaking at Abisaase, a farming community in the Berekum West Constituency in the Bono Region, as part of his retail campaign tour of the region last Friday.

Addressing the residents, who are mainly farmers, he highlighted the NDC's plans to boost agriculture and agribusiness in the country to improve the economy.

Effective policies

Mr Asiedu Nketiah said the NDC administration would implement effective agriculture policies and initiatives to boost productivity and improve the livelihoods of farmers as well as access to markets to reduce post-harvest losses.

He said farmers, particularly smallholder farmers and vegetable growers, would be supported to venture into commercial agriculture.

Mr Asiedu Nketiah, therefore urged the chiefs and people in the area to vote for the presidential candidate of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, and the Berekum West parliamentary candidate, Dickson Kwabena Kyere-Duah, to improve agriculture and their wellbeing.

At the Sunyani Magazine in Sunyani East, he revealed the party's plan to establish a modern magazine for the Sunyani Association of Garages if the NDC won the December 2024 general election.

Apprenticeship programme

He said the next NDC administration would also introduce a free apprenticeship training programme to provide young people with employable skills.

He said entrepreneurship played a crucial role in the development of the country, and pledged the party's commitment to introduce the policy to reduce unemployment.

Mr Asiedu Nketiah said under the programme, master craftsmen would be registered and supported to expand their shops in addition to supporting them with tools and equipment to train the beneficiaries.

New magazine

The Vice Chairman of the Association, Yaya Ibrahim, said the Sunyani Traditional Council had released a vast land for the association to relocate.

He appealed to Mr Asiedu Nketiah to facilitate the construction of a modern magazine for the association, and urged the NDC to rehabilitate the road network of the Sunyani Magazine in addition to the establishment of hostel facilities to accommodate apprentices.
