Mahama lauds China for support

Former President John Dramani Mahama has held discussions with the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Shi Ting Wang.

The former president, who is also the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2020 presidential election, noted the strong ties between the NDC and the Communist Party of China.

A statement from the office of the former president said Mr Mahama thanked the government and the People of China for the support that led to the construction of various infrastructural projects, including the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Atuabo Gas Processing Plant. as well as the award of Chinese government scholarships to a number of Ghanaians to study critical development oriented courses in China.

Optimism

The former president also thanked the ambassador for China's support during his presidency.

He again assured him that the next NIX' administration would complete all abandoned projects across the country, including those initiated through Chinese funding.

Mr Mahama expressed optimism that "Ghana and China will continue to enjoy a cordial relationship for the mutual benefit of our citizens."

The two parties also recalled the warm relations and long standing cooperation between Ghana and China.

They also discussed the menace of illegal mining and how they would cooperate effectively to stop the practice.

Present at the meeting were the Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and some senior members the NDC, including Messrs Ato Ahwoi, Kofi Totobi Quakyi, Kwame Pepra, Professor Kwameba Ahwoi and the Special Aide to the NDC flag bearer Joyce Bawah Mogtari.
