The Chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankumah, has called on the youth to align themselves with the CPP to enable the party win the 2024 general election.

According to her, the CPP is now united and poised to take over the nation’s governance due to a recent court judgment which exonerates her and the party from all legal entanglements.

“On the 18th of November, CPP won its freedom. All the legal cases against my good self and the CPP as a party, the Convention People's Party, are now over,” she said

“This landmark victory is a victory for the Convention People's Party and for all the youth of this country. The rank and file of the Convention People's Party is now more united and ready to mobilise for the 2024 election and take over the governance of this country,” she added.

In an address to the media, Nana Sarpong Kumankumah, further stressed that the CPP had now received the green light to mobilise human resources to ensure that the party had enough representatives in all polling stations for the national elections.

Lawsuit

In 2020, one Kweku Annan sued the CPP for wrongfully declaring Nana Sarpong Kumankumah as the chairperson of the party with claims that she had not reached the threshold of 50 plus one after the election for the chairmanship position.

After a settlement reached by the party with the plaintiff, the General Secretary of the CPP, Nana Yaa Jantuah, and other party executives who were not in agreement with the settlement, further sent the case to court to be tried.

However, on November 18, this year, the General Secretary and the other executives came to a consensus to withdraw the lawsuit, granting the party the chance to reorganise and gear up preparations for the 2024 national elections.

Grab a position

To this effect, the CPP Chairperson made a clarion call to the youth to take up various leadership positions within the party, which has been opened to all.

“I am asking every youth listening to my voice, every single youth and every single Ghanaian out there who is frustrated with the system and is looking for a better opportunity and a time to contribute your quota. This is the time, this is the opportunity for you,” she added.

She said there were up to 800,000 executive positions available within the CPP that were up for grabs by dialling *920*277#.

The CPP chairperson further posited that this opportunity would afford the youth the chance to get their voices heard and advocate policies that would ensure better governance.

“That is that ticket to your freedom. That is the opportunity you've been waiting for. CPP is free and it's free forever. So, this is your time, youth of this country, come take over the CPP so that you can now go and take over the governance of this country and do what is right for yourself,” she said.
