Afrikanians urged to promote peace, stability

“The maintenance of peace before, during and after the election depends on the contribution made by every individual as far as peace is concerned. Peace, we all know, is essential to progress. Without peace there cannot be political, social and economic progress,” he said.

He said the unification of traditional believers under the umbrella of Afrikania Mission led by its founder, the late Osofo Komfo Damuah for 30 years, should never be compromised as election 2012 drew near.

According to Osofo Kove, before the advent of Afrikania Mission, traditionalist were denigrated and many were demoralised and that it was the grace of God that had sustained the doctrines of Afrikania.

Osofo Kove, called on traditional priest and priestesses to pray insistently in their shrines, particularly for the health and long life of the President and other leaders in ensuring peaceful elections.

Touching on indoctrination, he questioned whether it would be possible for anybody to go to a foreign country to force his belief system on the people and inflict his own parochial belief on the education system of that country.

“Our children go to school to be forced to learn foreign values. We know very well that this cannot be allowed to take place anywhere in the world”, he said.

He said it was sad that children in Japan, Europe, China, Australia among others were taught with their various languages and also taught to dress, behave and worship God according to their culture while the story was different in Africa.

“Our children are forced to speak foreign languages at tender ages to the detriment of their mother tongue. Foreign names are also inflicted on them. Unfortunately many African intellectuals because of being indoctrinated are unable to tell the truth about themselves and their culture”.

Osofo Kove, therefore, appealed to the government to stop the indoctrination of Ghanaian children in public schools adding that it was an undeniable fact that children were being forced to have Christian worship in state-funded public schools no matter the religious beliefs of their parents.

He said Ghanaians were witnesses to a situation where libation prayers were banned at state functions adding that the Africania Mission bitterly reacted to that in some major newspapers and received the support of well-meaning Ghanaians.

“We hope under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, this abomination will cease. We hope he will listen to our appeal and stop the indoctrination of our children in public schools. It is unfair to try to delegitimise the religion of a people in a multi religious country”, he added.

Osofo Kove thanked Togbe Sri III, the Awoamefia of Anlo and his chiefs and elders, for making it possible for the mission to hold the convention at Anloga adding that the mission would not stop expressing its gratitude to chiefs who had embraced the Africania religion.

“We hope that our chiefs are aware that they are the custodians of our tradition and culture. It would therefore be ironical if they turn themselves into promoters of foreign values”.
