Trust Hospital inaugurates maternal/infant clinic
The Board of Directors and management of the Trust Hospital Company Limited (THCL), have inaugurated a maternal and infant clinic at Osu in Accra.

The 13-million dollar facility, christened; “Mother and Child Hospital,” would assist in providing quality and safe medical care to women and children.
It would provide services like gynaecology, obstetrics, pre-and-post natal care, and paediatrics and counselling to reduce maternal and infant mortality.
Dr Darius Kofi Osei, General Manager in-charge of Medical, said child mortality rate was highest in low income countries in sub-Saharan Africa and that “child death is emotionally and physically damaging to parents,” hence the need for health professionals to be motivated to work hard to save the situation.
He said THCL had achieved success in the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) policy intervention by reducing under-five mortality rate by two-thirds between 1990 and 2015.
“We are not expanding for the mere fun or joy of it but our objectives, among other things, is to provide excellent healthcare delivery to many people and beyond.
“We have injected into our operations access, availability, amenities, technical competence, safety, efficiency and inter-personal relationships and the statistics indicate that between 2010 and 2013, a total of 3,075 women have been safely delivered as we work in conformity with international standards,” Dr Osei said.
He said the medical officers gave premium to clients’ health conditions to ensure that both the mother and baby survived and were safe before, during and after delivery.
“With this strict monitoring of the babies, any form of abnormality is detected early enough and timely treated to ensure that the baby is not only delivered, but grows well during childhood,” Dr Osei said.
Mr Ernest Thompson, Director General of Social Security and National Insurance Trust, urged the staff that in their quest for progress they should ensure that the vulnerable, especially the sick, were well catered for.
He said; “The Trust Hospital is poised of playing a leading role in the provision of quality patient-focused services at reasonable cost in the West African sub-Region.”
Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, a special guest of honour, commended the hospital for its efforts to reduce infant mortality to the extent of recording none, which he described as a fulfilment of the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals Four and Five.
“The establishment of ‘Mother and Child Hospital’ is another milestone by the Trust Hospital,” he said, and urged management to keep it up.
