The Metropolitan Group of Companies has organised a blood donation exercise with employees of the company and other companies to help stock the national blood bank.
The company has also donated assorted medical supplies to the 37 Military Hospital to help support caring for victims of the June 3, 2015 fire and flood disaster.
The group which comprises of Metropolitan Life Insurance Ghana, Metropolitan Health Insurance Ghana and Metropolitan Pensions Trust Ghana explained the gesture was part of its corporate social investments.
Mr AJ Kruger, Chief Executive of the group speaking at the presentation of the medical supplies said that the company was also responding to the call from the Ministry of Health for assistance in restocking of the Central Medical Stores but has elected to donate directly to the 37 Military Hospital due to the pressure and the stress that the hospital faces since the occurrence of the disaster.
“We have monitored various media reports and we know the strain on your facility following the disaster and have made the decision to support this hospital and Ghanaians as a whole in these difficult periods, hence the presentation this afternoon” Mr Kruger stated.
The items donated to the hospital included supplies for burns treatment, cholera, infusions.
