Ghana to host health fair

Ghana will host over 3,000 healthcare professionals who will be attending the second international medical and pharmaceutical fair to be organised in Accra from Tuesday, June 25 to June 27, 2013.

Dubbed: “MediPharma Africa”, the event which will be held at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) is expected to bring together pharmacists, medical doctors, nurses, executives of pharmaceutical companies, healthcare associations, as well as visitors and investors from within and outside Africa.

To be organised on the theme; “The Role of capacity and skill development in healthcare delivery”, the event will also bring together health ministers from the African sub-region, regulators and other stakeholders in the health sector.

The event which will be inaugurated by the Minister of Health, Ms Hanny Sherry Ayittey, has built a reputation in the African healthcare sector as bringing together stakeholders from all over the world to Africa.

The event will again bring together stakeholders from the entire medical and health chain to deliberate on the way forward, particularly its role in the resuscitation of the health sector. Some of the events to be undertaken during the fair are a series of continuous medical education for  doctors, midwives, herbal practitioners as well as conferences and workshops.

MediPharma Africa, will also be used to exhibit products by manufacturers, suppliers and service providers from all the six continents of the world.

Dignitaries who will be attending  the event will include Prof. C.O. Onyebuchi Chukwu, Minister for Health, Nigeria, Dr Leke Pitan, African Director, International Hospital Federation (IHF) Geneva, Dr Paul Orhi, Director General of Nafadac, Dr Ebge Dawodu-Osifo, World Bank healthcare consultant, among others.

The event will be organised with support from the Ghana Ministry of Health (MoH), Federal Ministry of Health Nigeria (FMoH), Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of  Ghana (PMAG), Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Pharmaceutical Manufacturer’s Group of the Manufacturers Association of West Africa (PMGMAWA), Ghana Medical Association (GMA), among others.
