Zabzugu SHS: Police deployed to maintain calm after students vandalism

Security has been beefed up at the Zabzugu Senior High School (SHS) in the Northern Region following some disturbances on campus on Tuesday night.

The disturbances were as a result of an alleged refusal by some teachers to prevent final year students of the school from cheating in the ongoing West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The irate students were alleged to have vandalized school property including television sets, tables, computers and glass windows and also threatened to burn down the school.

It took the timely intervention of the Police to maintain law and order.

The Northern Regional Director of Education, Alhaji Mohammed Haroun Cambodia Graphic Online that it has been planned that the police will escort all final year students out of the campus each time they finish writing their papers.

He described the incident as shameful and condemned the behavior of the students.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Zabzugu (DCE), Mr. Ahamed A. Iddrisu said the District Security Council (DISEC) would constitute a committee in the coming days to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to book.
