Mr Asiedu Nketia’s coat captured in a number of photographs during President Mahama’s recent visit to Germany has been the talk of town in Ghana with some describing it as feminine [Mmaata].

In an interview with a Kumasi based radio station, Hello FM on Friday morning, Mr Asiedu Nketia explained he was well aware the coat was feminine.

He sees nothing wrong if he chose to take his wife’s coat, which she brought from Canada and he knew it was cold in Germany and he was going to spend just three days, instead of going to buy a new one.

To him, there was no point going to buy a new coat knowing very well that he was going to need it for just three days.

He told the host of the programme, King Edward that he understands former General Secretary of the NPP, Sir John and former Asokwa MP, Maxwell Kofi Jumah were some of the major brains behind his ridicule but he was happy they have not accused him of taking state funds to go and shop at “Oxford Street,” which would have been shameful.

Popularly known as General Mosquito, Mr Asiedu Nketia said it was good to joke with some of these things but for him he went to Germany not to do a “fashion show” but to go and work.

We did not go there to see who was well dressed, he said and added that no white man called him in Germany to say his coat was feminine so he careless about detractors back home in Ghana.
