Volunteer Ministers of African Extreme Tour organises leadership training for people in Brong Ahafo Region

More than 1,500 people, including traditional authorities in the Brong-Ahafo Region, have undergone a leadership training courses to enhance their ability in addressing emergency situations and other problems affecting the society.

The free training course organised by a non-profit organization, Volunteer Ministers of African Extreme Tour, was aimed at exposing the participants to the combination of skills that will assist them to address both physical and spiritual needs of victims of disaster in remote communities.

The programme was undertaken because of the high number of chieftaincy disputes, political conflicts and educational examination malpractices recorded in the last few years in the region.

The participants were taken through topics such as drugs, communications, basics of organisations, ethics and conditions, how to resolve conflicts, integrity and honesty. 

Moral upright

In an interview with the Daily Graphic, the Director of the West Africa Extreme Volunteer Minister Tour (WAEVMT), Mr Yelbi Suleiman Abdallah, said the programme was aimed at equipping the participants with the requisite knowledge to enable them to help people in their area to eschew negative practices such as corruption, examination malpractices, and conflicts among other social vices.

According to him, corruption, conflicts and other social vices undermined the development of any country and called on Ghanaians to pull resources to support the government to fight corruption.

He stressed the need for teachers, parents and other duty bearers to inculcate good moral attitude in their children so that they could become good citizens in future.

Advised and challenges in education

Mr Abdallah advised students to take advantage of the programme to solve problems they encountered during studies and social life.

He observed that some students abandon their course, drop-out of school and engaged in demonstrations, riots and disturbances due to challenges that impede their academic progression.

He expressed the hope that the programme would benefit teachers and students by enhancing teaching and learning in various schools and improve performance in the various examinations undertaken by the students.
