The hospital, which is yet to be inaugurated, is about 95 per cent complete and comes with male and female wards, a VIP ward, laboratories, a children’s ward and a pharmacy.

The Director of the Hospital, Ms Catherine Bonney, told the Daily Graphic that when completed, the hospital would recruit a resident doctor and hire specialists from the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal (LEKMA) Hospital.

The Finger of God Hospital will bring to three the number of hospitals in the municipality.

Ms Bonney said she used the proceeds from the Finger of God Maternity Home, an institution she owned, to construct the hospital.

Among the equipment the NGO donated were wheelchairs, hospital and examination beds, orthopaedic and laboratory equipment and assorted medicines.

Donation

Donating the items, the Country Director of Jacobs Well Appeal Ghana, the local chapter of Jacobs Well UK, Ms Sandra Scantlebury, expressed the appreciation of the management of the NGO to Ms Bonney for her hard work that saw the near completion of the hospital.

She stated that the NGO had entered an agreement with the Ministry of Health where the former was mandated to import containers full of medical equipment for distribution to hospitals and other health institutions across the country.

She told the Daily Graphic that the 37 Military Hospital, the LEKMA and the Hohoe District hospitals were among the hospitals that benefited from their services.

“We were happy to be contacted by the Finger of God Hospital to support them with medical equipment knowing how helpful the hospital will be to the community”, Ms Scantlebury remarked.

Ms Bonney, who received the items, thanked the NGO for the gesture and asked other philanthropic institutions to emulate the NGO’s example.

The Presiding Member of the Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly, Mr Patrick Noagbedzi, called on public-spirited organisations to support a good cause by lending support to institutions with genuine intentions.
