Twins found dead in concrete water tub

Twins found dead in concrete water tub

A set of twins, about two years, last Friday slipped into a half-full concrete water pot and died, soon after their evening meals at their home at Gbleafedo near Denu.

They were Julius Atsu Akpabla and Juliet Atsufui Akpabla.

Police Chief Inspector Stephen Ntumi, in charge of the Denu Police Station, who confirmed the story to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Monday, said that Friday,  around 1930 hours, the twins returned with Agnes Afedo, their mother,  from the farm and were served with their evening meal while Madam Afedo went to have her bath.

He said Madam Afedo on her return did not find the twins behind their plates, and after combing around and not finding them, raised the alarm.

Mr Ntumi said a neighbour directed his flashlight into the concrete water tub for harvesting rain water, at the edge of the house and found the lads under the water.

He said they were rushed to the Sape Agbo Memorial Hospital at Denu where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

Mr Ntumi said their bodies had been deposited at the Ketu-South District Hospital, pending autopsy.
