Already, the private developer, Sabtiu Baba Musah, has injected GH¢1.2 million into the project, with the assembly providing the land and other logistics to complete the building, which is four months old.

Per the agreement, a copy of which is available to the Daily Graphic, the [private investor will be entitled to 90 per cent of proceeds from the commercial venture, with the assembly earning the remaining 10 per cent.

The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Mrs Cecilia Abena Dapaah, who inspected the facility yesterday during the first leg of a three-day tour of Kumasi, said the current way of slaughtering the animals was "criminal".

She commended the investor and asked residents of Suame to take a cue from him.

The investor said he was in talks with partners from China and Germany to fix first-class equipment and technology at the facility.

He commended the assembly for the support and ensuring that standards were met.

The MCE for Suame, Dr Osei Bobbie Boahen, said once the facility was ready, the assembly would enforce strict compliance on how animals were slaughtered.

He said the partnership was one of his plans to modernise the municipality.
