Sole commissioner on judgement debt resumes sitting

The Sole Commissioner, Justice Yaw Appau, tasked Ms Gaisie to endeavour to furnish the commission with the petition file, notice of intention to sue filed by beneficiaries, and other necessary documentations that would help the commission in its work.

Also at the commission was the Deputy Auditor General, Mr Yaw Agyei Sefah, who represented the Auditor General, Mr Richard Quartey.

Mr Sefah tendered in two sets of documents from 1993-1999 and 2002-2005, to complement earlier documents submitted at the commission’s maiden sitting a fortnight ago.

He could, however, not produce documentation on the 1992 period, saying “we do not have the full complement of 1992 since that period was the transition of the Fourth Republic.”

He said that documentation on special audits was also forwarded to the institutions that commissioned them, while a due diligence audit, which was also carried out recently, was forwarded to the Office of the President, since such audits did not require parliamentary sanctions.

Mr Sefah, however, assured the commission that the department would make available documentation on forensic audits carried out on the Consolidated Fund, ministries, department and agencies (MMDAs), the district assemblies common fund among other important audits.

Sitting continues Tuesday, with the Ministry of Finance and the Controller and Accountant General’s Department expected to make a second appearance.
