Known in private life as Mr Michael Afedi Gizo, Nene Nagai Kassa VIII succeeds the late Nene Nagai Kassa VII, who died about 10 years ago.

Welcoming the new chief at a ceremony at Dodowa, Nene Kwesi Agyeman, the Chief of Dodowa, called on traditional authorities to resolve their differences devoid of rancour and violence.

It would be recalled that a protracted chieftaincy dispute ensued between Mr Gizo and Warrant Officer Joseph Kofi Addai over which of them was the rightful occupant of the Stool.

A three-member committee constituted by the council to go into the case ruled that Mr Gizo was the one qualified to be the substantive divisional chief of Agomeda and its environs.

Members of the committee were Nene Padi Narh Wayo I, the Lekpeje Yiti Mantse, chairman, Nene Akuh Djagbatey and Manklao Okle Tei I.

Mr Gizo has served in both the public and private sectors of the country.

He served as a member of the Consultative Assembly on the Fourth Republican Constitution.

He also served as government appointee and later the District Chief Executive of the Dangbe West District Assembly.

Mr Gizo was elected as the Member of Parliament for Dangbe West in the 1992 general election and served three terms in Parliament.
