The contribution was presented on behalf of the bank’s staff by the Managing Director Victor Yaw Asante, following the club’s ‘Walk for a Child’ fundraising event held on the University of Ghana campus on Saturday.
Additionally, FBNBank donated GH¢10,000 each to the Rotaract Club of Accra Ring Road Central and the Rotary E-Club of Ghana.
Speaking at the event, Albert Bahun-Wilson, President of the Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central, expressed gratitude for the support and reiterated the club's goal of raising GH¢400,000 this year to complete the GH¢1.4 million clinic.
“Our target is to complete the Berekuso project by December 2024. However, if we are unable to do so by then, we aim to hand it over to the community in the first quarter of 2025,” Bahun-Wilson said. He also encouraged global donations to aid in the project’s completion.
The clinic, currently under construction on land provided by the Berekuso community, will feature a range of facilities, including an out-patient department, maternity ward, male, female, and children’s wards, a laboratory, psychiatric unit, emergency room, antenatal unit, pharmacy, consulting rooms, and a public health section, among others.
Participants in the ‘Walk for a Child’ completed an eight-kilometre loop around the University of Ghana campus, contributing to the fundraising drive for the clinic.
