THE Rebecca Foundation, a charity arm of the office of the former First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, has donated assorted items to the Rebecca Akufo-Addo Ghana Parents Childhood Cancer Association (GHAPAG) Sunshine House at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital in Accra.
The items included bags of rice, boxes of cooking oil, boxes of detergents among others.
A lawyer and Lead Strategist of the Rebecca Foundation, Sheela Sakyi Oppong, who presented the items at both facilities, said the donation was to help cater for the children and their guardians accommodated at the Sunshine hostel and those at the Children’s Hospital.
She pledged the foundation's readiness to support the two facilities at all times.
Assistant Warden, Bernice Cudjoe, who received the items, thanked the foundation for its continuous support to the hostel, saying such support always goes a long way to support them in taking care of the children.
She said presently, they have a total of 22 children and guardians living at the hostel who they have to feed three times every day.
At the Children’s Hospital, the Head of Clinical Services and acting Medical Superintendent, Dr Margaret Neizer, also thanked the foundation for the support.
She said the hospital thrives on the generosity and partnerships of corporate bodies and institutions and really appreciated the support.
She said the hospital, on a daily basis, feeds malnourished children with breakfast, lunch and supper at its Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre and therefore relied mainly on individuals and organisations to sustain the programme.
