She was said to have stolen the baby boy from the Tamale West hospital and fled to Karaga.

According to the police, the baby went missing after delivery in the northern region hospital over the weekend.

The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ebenezer Tetteh who made this known in an interview with Starr FM, said it was family members of the missing baby who reported the matter to the police.

He said the suspect was arrested upon a tip off and was currently being processed for court by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Tamale police.

“So far information is sketchy but what she is saying is that the baby belongs to one of her sisters… if the baby belongs to the sister the matter wouldn’t have been reported to the police as theft case, so until she comes to Tamale and interrogated further we will be unable to establish where she was taking the baby to.”

He said the police were still investigating the matter.
