Papa Owusu-Ankomah recovers from Covid-19

Ghana's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, Papa Owusu-Ankomah, has recovered from the novel coronavirus disease.

Papa Owusu-Ankomah who made this known in a press statement released on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 said, "I count myself blessed to be counted among the living today based on my recovery from the horrific effects of the virus".

The High Commissioner was reportedly infected with COVID-19 on Friday, April 10, 2020 and was said to be in a "stable condition".

Papa Owusu-Ankomah in his statement said, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London along with the High Commission and the hospital worked together to ensure successful outcomes.

He extended gratitude to the President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who he said showed compassion during the period.

"I extend my deepest gratitude to the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who continued to show compassion during those difficult times. I am also humbled to know that I can count on the continued support of the Minister for Foreign Affairs & Regional Integration of Ghana, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey (MP) in many ways, particularly for the direction she gave to the High Commission to manage matters", he said.

Papa Owusu-Ankomah also entreated all to abide by laid down protocols and regulations issued by the U.K.

"I entreat all compared to abide by laid down protocols and regulations issued by the U.K. authorities to stem the tide of the pandemic. Let us all stay safe and we shall overcome!", the statement asked.

Papa Owusu Ankomah, 61 was appointed Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK and Ireland in June 2017 and has served in that capacity since then.
