The chiefs and people of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Area have conferred a development chief title - Ellembelle Anyunluhɔlɛ Belemgbunli - on the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah.
Awulae Blay IX, of the Ellembelle Maanle, who confered the development chieftaincy title said it was in recognition of Armah-Kofi Buah's contribution to the development of Ellembelle and the wider Nzema area.
A delegation, comprising sub-chiefs and queenmothers, paid a courtesy call on the minister in Accra on Thursday (Oct 8, 2026) to congratulate him on his appointment and formally express their support for his work.
Awulae Blay IX said the traditional authorities had followed Mr Buah's contributions to the development of the area and considered it appropriate to recognise his efforts through the conferment of the traditional title.
The Paramount Chief particularly commended Mr Buah for his role in promoting the legacy of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah through the annual Nkrumafest.
He said the celebration had become an important platform for keeping alive the values and ideals of Ghana's first President, noting that the light ignited by Dr Nkrumah should continue to guide present and future generations.
Awulae Blay IX subsequently presented a symbolic stool to the minister as a symbol of honour and his new status as development chief.
Mr Armah-Kofi Buah expressed gratitude for the honour, describing the conferment of the title as both humbling and deeply appreciated. He pledged to continue supporting Nkrumafest to ensure that the ideas of Dr Kwame Nkrumah remain relevant to future generations.
