The Group Chairman of Kasapreko Company Limited, Dr Kwabena Adjei, has urged Ghanaians to support indigenous companies to grow.

"Wholly owned Ghanaian companies such as Kasapreko do not only provide jobs for Ghanaians but also ensure that every pesewa made is retained in the country and channelled into development projects or ploughed back into the business.

So if you support a Ghanaian company, you are supporting the development of your country," he said.

Dr Adjei was speaking during a tour of the Kasapreko factory by Members of Parliament from the Wassa Amenfi area in the Western Region.

The MPs are Mr George Arthur (Amenfi Central) and Mr Eric Afful (Amenfi West).

They were accompanied by Mr Daniel Ntodi, the 2015 Amenfi West District Best Farmer.

Legacy for the youth

Dr Adjei, a native of Wassa Bonuamah, said he established the company and grew it not for himself but as a legacy to the Ghanaian youth.

"I did not establish this company to make money for myself. Far from it. I wanted to prove to Ghanaians what can be achieved through hard work and determination.

And it is to serve as an encouragement to them to strive harder and attain greater heights in business," he said.

Projects for the year

Dr Adjei reiterated his determination to bottle indigenous soft drinks such as asaana, sobolo and Hausa beer and said moves in that direction had already been initiated.

He said the company would in the course of the year begin the production of malt drinks.

Arthur's comments

Mr Arthur told the Daily Graphic that although as MPs they were aware that Dr Adjei was from Wassa, the political leadership in the area had never visited the factory to see how it operated.

He said the recent visit by the President, coupled with the many awards received by Dr Adjei, triggered the visit by the MPs.

He expressed gratitude to the Kasapreko Group Chairman for the many development projects he had initiated in the Wassa Amenfi area saying Dr Adjei had constructed schools, provided potable water and engaged in other planned undertakings.

Mr Arthur said the MPs in the area, as well as traditional chiefs and elders from the area, would soon visit the factory to honour Dr Adjei.

He added that a visit by the Parliamentary Select Committee on Poverty Reduction and Food and Agriculture was being planned.
