Nana Oye called on them to support these orphanages with cash and food items to ensure the effective running of the homes.

The minister made the appeal at a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, where she outlined activities put in place to help streamline adoption processes in the country.

She said the government was currently facing challenges in supporting these homes, saying that it was working around the clock to salvage the situation.

Presently, the ministry has placed an indefinite ban on all adoption processes in the country to streamline the procedure.

In the interim, as the ministry is restructuring the adoption procedures in the country, Nana Oye has also called on individuals and benevolent organisations to support the various children‘s homes in the country by donating items that would help in their day-to-day affairs.

According to her, the government was currently working together with the centre managers to provide them with their most pressing needs and logistics.

As a way of supporting them, she said, the ministry had held series of meetings over the past weeks with the heads of the homes to prioritise their needs for support.

She, therefore, called on individuals and organisations to contact the homes whenever they wanted to donate to them to know their most pressing needs and work towards that.
