Melcom Care Foundation donates to 5 hospitals
Five hospitals in the Greater Accra Region have received medical refrigerators, bed side refrigerators and water purifiers from Melcom Care Foundation, the charity wing of Melcom Group of Companies.

The beneficiary hospitals are the 37 Military Hospital, Police Hospital, Tema General Hospital, Ridge Hospital and the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
Strengthening ties
Speaking at the handing-over ceremony in Accra, the Director of Communications for Melcom Group of Companies, Mr Godwin Avenorgbo, said the donation was in honour of Mrs Sheila Khubchandani, the First Lady of Melcom.
He said the company had over the years supported the health sector. It once presented an ambulance to the 37 Military Hospital.
He said the main purpose of presenting the items was to enhance the relationship between Melcom and its blood donor facilitators.
He noted that the medical refrigerators would help to keep donated blood safe and well preserved for screening and infusion to save lives.
Mr Avenorgbo expressed the hope that heads of the various institutions would take care of the items.
Deputy Minister
The Deputy Minister of Health, Dr Victor Bampoe, commended the company for the support they had given to the institutions and the crucial role they had played in strengthening the health sector.
He said the items would help the hospitals have a safe place to keep blood.
The Director of the National Blood Service, Dr Justina Ansah, said blood donation was a civic responsibility and that every Ghanaian ought to see it as a duty to save lives.
She appealed to corporate institutions to support the blood service and the health sector.
Beneficiary responds
The Director in charge of the Ambulance Unit at the Police Hospital, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Dr Iddi Musah, expressed his gratitude to Melcom on behalf of the beneficiary hospitals.
