Man shoots wife and kills himself

A 45-year-old farmer, Kojo Ennie, shot himself after shooting his wife when he was under the influence of alcohol. The incident happened at Sefwi Tanoso-Praso in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District of the Western Region on Sunday, January 5, 2014.

A report from the District Crime Officer, Mr Gbagbo Kwabena Prosper, said one of the sons of the couple’s four children, Ebenezer Ennie, told the police that his father always behaved abnormally anytime he drank alcohol.

According to him, his father had attempted killing their mother the last time he drank alcohol so his mother decided to divorce him but the case was later resolved.

Mr Gbagbo said the body of Kojo Ennie was found in his room together with a locally manufactured gun and two used bullets.

Fortunately, he said, Kojo Ennie’s wife was still alive and had been referred to  the Komfo Anokye Hospital in Kumasi for further medical treatment after initial treatment at the Bibiani Government Hospital.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Bibiani mortuary for autopsy.
