Speaking on Accra-based Peace FM Wednesday, Mr Kweku Baako said Oteng-Adjei’s appointment to such an enviable post was a bad decision that ought to be reversed.

His comment follows news that Dr Oteng-Adjei took home a luxury vehicle in his possession six months after exiting his post as Energy Minister.

After a caustic media criticism, the Ex-Minister returned the vehicle, which was one of 38 purchased by the Ministry of Energy at a cost of GH₵5,584,508 from a budget meant for extending electricity to 1,200 communities under the Multi-Donor Budgetary Support Programme between 2010 and 2012.

Explaining why he continued to use the vehicle after leaving the ministry, Dr Oteng-Adjei said when he moved from the Energy Ministry to the Ministry of Environment and Science, “their financial situation was a bit difficult and so I worked out with the previous ministry to keep the car.

If confirmed as GNPC Board Chairman, Dr Oteng-Adjei will replace Ato Ahwoi who has led the seven-member board over the last few years.

The current board members include, GNPC CEO, Alex Mould, Awulae Atibrukusu, Cadman Mills, Kweku Temeng, Alexandra Amoako Mensah and Kyeretwie Opoku.
