Let’s pray for the Judiciary — Palmer-Buckle

The Accra Metropolitan Archbishop of the Catholic Church, Most Rev. Charles Palmer-Buckle, has stated that the recent alleged corruption scandal that has rocked the country's judiciary clearly indicates that the country needs God's intervention to turn things round.

He said that when he dedicated the St Barnabas Catholic Church at Haatso in Accra, which has also been elevated to a parish status.

Most Rev. Palmer-Buckle described recent developments in the country as sad, as the judiciary was one of the pillars of democracy in the country.

“The judiciary is supposed to defend the poor people in the country, but if because of money they cannot stand for the truth, then the future of this country is not bright,” he said.

Background

The St Barnabas Church began in 2000 with a handful of worshippers who met at a house at Haatso. Since then, its membership has grown to over 800. The new church building, which started 10 years ago, was put up by the parishioners themselves. At the dedication service and elevation to parish status, members of the congregation were urged to see the church building as a special place of worship and be attentive to activities there.

The new parish Priest of St Barnabas Catholic Church, Very Rev. Fr Daniel Osei Yeboah, pledged to live up to his spiritual role and partner the state in social development and economic transformation.
