AN Ashanti Regional Communications Officer hopeful of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ishaq Kyei-Brobbey, has appealed to delegates to elect him to lead the party's communications outfit in the region, saying effective communications management goes beyond media appearances.
He said the role requires strategic leadership, team management, capacity building and strong working relationships with the media to position the party for victory in the 2028 general election.
Mr Kyei-Brobbey, who has filed his nomination to contest for the position, made the appeal in a statement.
Communications strategy
He said managing the regional communications outfit involved coordinating thousands of communicators across polling stations, electoral areas and constituencies, as well as ensuring message discipline, conflict management, media monitoring and effective deployment of communicators.
Mr Kyei-Brobbey explained that the communications structure in the Ashanti Region would expand significantly with the inclusion of polling station and electoral area communications officers, making leadership and organisational skills essential.
He added that the role also demanded the ability to motivate communicators despite financial constraints and ensure that party messages reached the appropriate audiences through suitable communication channels.
Experience
Mr Kyei-Brobbey said he had served on the Ashanti Regional Communications Team of the NPP for more than 14 years, during which he became one of the party's regular voices on radio, television and social media, particularly on finance and economic issues.
He said he had also participated in a number of research assignments for the party, including the committee chaired by former Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, that examined the NPP's defeat in the 2024 general election, and another ongoing research commissioned by the Ashanti Regional Council of Elders.
The communications officer hopeful further stated that he had served as a TESCON patron for more than 15 years, mentoring students who had gone on to occupy various leadership positions within the party.
Professional background
Mr Kyei-Brobbey, a lecturer in Accounting and Finance with about two decades of experience in academia, said he served as a head of department, a member of an academic board and on several institutional committees.
He added that he had served as a board member of the Graphic Communications Group Limited and chairman of its subsidiary, G-PAK, while also chairing the Finance and Administration Committee and serving on the Legal and Audit
Committee and the Audit Implementation Committee.
He further indicated that he currently serves as Board Chairman of Effiduase Senior High Commercial School and Acting Board Chairman of Islamic Senior High School, Kumasi, and Ghana Muslim Senior High School at Beposo in the Sekyere Central District.
Mr Kyei-Brobbey expressed confidence that his academic, professional and party experience had prepared him to lead the Ashanti Regional Communications Directorate of the NPP.
