The Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Mr Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, has expressed sadness at the loss of over 150 Ghanaians, following devastating Accra floods Wednesday.

According to Mr Baako, while government must take primary responsibility for the floods, Ghanaians were also part of the problem.

He said: “There is something really wrong not just with government, not regimes, they take the larger share of the responsibility because they are in charge of the purse. They draw programmes and they have to execute them so yes regimes, administrations and governments I say allocate the greater portion of the blame on their shoulders.

“But I think as Ghanaians we are part of the problem. The individuals, families, commercial enterprises and all the rest are part of the problem.

“We need to start enforcing [laws]. Some of the laws [are there] enforcement of those could help a lot.”

Mr Baako stressed the need to avoid politicising the issue, saying: “The problem has been here for far too long and I’m not sure any of us can excuse ourselves relative to the blame.”

He was speaking on News File on Accra-based Joy FM Saturday.
